Summerwood/Winterwood
Oh hey, it’s been a while. I wrote another book.
Oh hey, it’s been a while. I wrote another book.
Pray you never find your Summerwood, Grandfather had said. I’d found something worse. I’d found his.
Oh yeah, I wrote a book.
The good news is that Casserole Diplomacy and Other Stories: An On Spec Retrospective Anthology has launched, which includes my story “More Than Salt”. (Tyche Books also published the Canadian superhero anthology Masked Mosaic.)
In 2008 I had the pleasure of working in Chicago with Nate Burgos on the project that inspired this presentation. We’ve kept in touch since, and last month he interviewed me for his website Design Feast about why designers make good writers and my (mostly mobile) writing workflow.
“Goh-Goh is angry at you for not being a good Little Sister. Wah…Why are you so selfish? You know you are not supposed to anger bad spirits during Ghost Month.”
I sputtered, “You think Goh-Goh is a bad spirit? A gwai?”
“Ai-yah. Don’t call them that. Do you want to anger them? They are the Good Brothers. You call them the Good Brothers. Ho hing dai.”
