I had a slow week at work, so I made an internal poster for the company holiday party. It’s modelled after the famous “Let’s All Go to the Lobby” animation they used to show in movie theatres. My intention was to make it as ridiculous as possible.
My sister-in-law put in a request for reusable fabric snack bags for her two young sons. I had been thinking about making them for a while, but had read that one should use food-safe fabric. Spoonflower carries a nice organic cotton knit (much like jersey) and an organic cotton sateen, so my first thought was to create two different cut-and-sew designs that would fit on a fat quarter for the exterior and interior.
After seeing some really nice city-themed fabrics on Spoonflower (namely these fabrics inspired by Delft, Milwaukee and New York), I figured I should make one for Toronto (a.k.a. The Known Centre of the Frickin’ Universe), my hometown.
I browsed Spoonflower for mustache-themed fabric with the intention of making zippered pouches to sell during Movember fundraising at the office. But I couldn’t find any I liked. So I made my own. It’s scaled small in order to be appropriate for the lining of pouch or bag.
